KUCHING: Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh has urged people of all races to unite and support the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Wong pointed out that this unity is essential to implement the Malaysia Madani concept and to counter corruption, inefficiency and divisive forces within the nation.

He also stressed the need to support Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, in realising the “People First” initiatives.

“…thus, fulfilling the basic needs of the people while carrying out his vision and far-sighted projects and programmes of achieving a developed state by the year 2030,” he said in a statement.

In light of the current political landscape, Wong highlighted that PSB had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) to support the formation of a unity government.

“Leaders from Barisan Nasional (BN), Pakatan Harapan (PH), and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) have set aside their past differences to come together for this purpose.

“It is our stand to give the unity government under Anwar’s leadership a chance and opportunities to right all the wrong committed by the previous government.

“Because we went through so many national objectives for the past 40 years and all of them had fallen short of their targeted objectives and failed miserably.

“With the strong support from Abang Johari himself and with his decisiveness of action and admirable courage, I believe Anwar can carry out the Malaysia Madani objectives,” Wong said.

Addressing Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen, he stated that it was morally incorrect to continue playing the opposition’s role in the state when Sarawak DAP relied on GPS’ support for the survival of the unity government.

He pointed out that Sarawak DAP’s involvement, including the appointment of Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen as a special advisor to the Minister of Health, Dr Zaliha Mustafa, indicated their participation in the unity government alongside GPS.
