KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Public Complaints Bureau (PCB) chief Wilfred Yap was recently approached by more than  30 residents staying at Lorong 1, Jalan Durian Burung and its surrounding areas behind the ongoing Gala City Development.

The said residents expressed their concerns of potential flash flooding during heavy rains which would be causing them anxiety and great inconvenience. Another matter they brought up was the steep gradient of the road access to Jalan Durian Burung from Jalan Tun Jugah.

Following the requests for assistance received Yap together with Kapitan Wong Ka Chuan had gone to inspect and assess the situation to see what could be done to solve the problems raised by them.

Subsequent to the visit a meeting was arranged the SUPP PCB (SPCB) chief Yap between Lee Chin Teck, the developer of Gala City Development with the residents of Lorong 1, Jalan Durian Burung and its surrounding areas.

The developer also assured the residents that his consultants had done a thorough study to minimise potential flooding during heavy rains of the Gala City Development area.

During the meeting, the residents concerned also requested SPCB to appeal to the developer of Gala City Commercial Development and relevant authorities for an additional access and for the developer to reduce the gradient of the road access from Jalan Tun Jugah into Lorong 1, Jalan Durian Burung.
