Firefighters extinguishing the fire that destroyed a squatter house that four families shared in front SJK Chung Hua No. 2

BINTULU: Four families were left with nothing but the clothes on their backs after a squatter house they shared was razed to the ground along Jalan Nyabau today (Jan 24).

Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the 12 family members as they managed to evacuate to safety in the 1.15 pm incident.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Bintulu station were dispatched to the scene in front of SJKC Chung Hua No. 2, after receiving a distress call.

Upon arrival, they found that the wooden house was fully engulfed in the flames and the extinguishing deed was performed using water from the fire truck.

Once the situation was deemed safe, the team concluded the operation.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred is yet to be ascertained.

Also present at the scene were the police and personnel from Tanjung Batu constituency service centre.
