KUCHING: Kuching, the state capital and largest city in Sarawak is ranked the 14th cleanest city in the world.

It is based on sources from the IQAir website, a ‘real time’ air quality reporting portal for cities around the world. The cleanliness of this city has been measured based on air quality in real time.

Kuching has recorded a total of 25 AQI (air quality index) points which shows that the air quality in the city is good.

Not only that, the position of Kuching is also above Kuala Lumpur even though Kuala Lumpur is the capital of Malaysia.

For information, Kuala Lumpur has been ranked the 62nd cleanest city in the world with an air quality index of 62 points which makes the air quality moderate.

Accordingly, Kuching is also recorded as having the largest number of residents in East Malaysia.

The city of Kuching is divided into two, Kuching North and Kuching South, respectively administered by the North Kuching City Hall (DBKU) and the Kuching South City Council (MBKS).

Thus, as a result of the initiative of these two councils, the city of Kuching managed to grab some of the cleanest city awards, for example, from the ASEAN Tourism Standard Awards Council recently.
