State library reopens on Dec 1

KUCHING: Sarawak State Library (Pustaka Sarawak) and the State Record Repository is reopening its door to the public on Dec 1.

While welcoming the public, they are also advised to follow the standard operating procedure (SOP) that has been set as part of their safety measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

All visitors are required to register on WeCare, COVIDTrace and MySejahtera before entering. Temperature checking will also be taken by the library staff.

The newspaper room, gallery, special collection room and all discussion rooms are still temporarily closed until further notice.

While the number of people will be limited in the library and public must practise social distancing of one meter at all times.

Public are also advised not to visit the library if they are feeling unwell.

The library also assured that they will clean the facilities regularly.

Meanwhile, the libraries also encourage users to use their online service such as the Pustaka Sarawak Channel and BookBear service platform for free.

Pustaka Sarawak Channel is a platform for broadcasting Pustaka programmes and activities online on Youtube which is accessible at https://www.youtube.com/user/PustakaSarawak/.

Whereas the BookBear Services is a direct-to-consumer book borrowing services that can be downloaded via Angka.sa2 app on Google Play Store or App Store. The service is available from Monday to Saturday on 9am to 5pm.

This initiative is aimed at ensuring that users have access to the library collection as the library has not fully opened its premises.
