State records 174 recoveries and discharge

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 174 Covid-19 recoveries who were allowed to be discharged from hospitals today.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said of the total recovered and discharged cases, 61 were from Sibu Hospital, Bintulu Hospital (37), Sarawak General Hospital (34), Sarikei Hospital (21), nine each from PKRC under Kapit Hospital and PKRC under Sri Aman Hospital, and three from Miri Hospital.

This brings the total number of recovered and discharged cases to 8,141 or 76.27 percent of the total Covid-19 cases in Sarawak.

SDMC said there were 2,413 people still undergoing treatment at hospital isolation wards in the state – 957 in Sibu Hospital and PKRC Sibu, Bintulu Hospital and PKRC Bintulu (375), Miri Hospital and PKRC Miri (300), SGH and PKRC Kuching (295), Betong Hospital and PKRC Betong (170), Sarikei Hospital and PKRC Sarikei (156), Kapit Hospital and PKRC Kapit (140), and at Sri Aman Hospital and PKRC Sri Aman (20).

The state also recorded 275 new person-under-investigation (PUI), while two PUIs are still awaiting laboratory results.

Meanwhile, 593 person-under-surveillance (PUS) have checked into the respective hotel and quarantine centres to undergo quarantine, bringing to 6,250 PUS placed at 90 hotels and quarantine centres statewide as of March 5. A total of 70,902 PUS have completed the quarantine period.

The districts of Selangau, Betong, Meradong, Kuching, Samarahan, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Sibu continue to remain as Covid-19 red zone with a total of 1,770 local transmission cases reported in the ten districts in the last 14 days.

Kanowit, Serian, Sarikei, Julau, Subis, Bau, Bukit Mabong, Dalat and Sri Aman remained orange zone after a total of 227 local transmission cases were reported in the past two weeks.

Marudi, Mukah, Pusa, Song, Asajaya, Beluru, Saratok and Sebauh districts remain yellow with a total of 62 local transmission cases reported in the last 14 days.

The other 14 districts maintain their green zone status. These are Lundu, Belaga, Tatau, Pakan, Matu, Lawas, Daro, Simunjan, Lubok Antu, Telang Usan, Limbang, Tanjung Manis, Tebedu, and Kabong.
