State records 200 fewer cases

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 261 positive cases yesterday (July 24), 200 fewer cases than those recorded the previous day (461).

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the cumulative number of cases now stood at 73,579.

The Kuching district accounted for 119 new cases; Lundu 25; Pakan 23; Saratok 17; Serian 13; Tanjung Manis 12; Sarikei nine; Bintulu eight; Beluru seven; Samarahan six and Miri four.

Three cases were reported in the Sibu, Kapit, and Bau districts respectively; two cases each in Betong, Subis and Belaga districts and one case each in Asajaya, Mukah and Telang Usan.

Thirty-four out of the 261 cases were individuals who were symptomatic during the Covid-19 screening.

Yesterday, there were 302 new recoveries and discharges from hospitals statewide.

These bring the number of recovered and discharged cases so far to 68,701 or 93.37 percent of the total number of cases in Sarawak.

There are 4,253 individuals still undergoing treatment at Low-Risk Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC) and hospital isolation wards in the state.
