SIBU: The state will soon get 500,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine, revealed the coordinator of the Sibu Divisional Disaster Management Committee, Dr Annuar Rapaee.

He stated that the vaccine was purchased by the state government through its own initiative in order to expedite the vaccination process for the people of Sarawak.

He revealed this during a live stream of Sibu district’s daily cases on Saturday night.

The Assistant Minister of Local Government and Housing added that the vaccine would be provided free of charge by the state government to private hospitals in order to expedite Sarawak’s immunisation programme.

He also announced that the vaccination programme for the elderly in Sibu district would be held on May 18 and 19 at the vaccination centre at the Sibu Indoor Stadium.

“I have advocated for Covid-19 hot zones such as Sibu, Bintulu and Miri to be prioritised in receiving the vaccine,” he added.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee revealed on Saturday that Sibu had 33 positive Covid-19 cases.
