KUCHING: A Cabinet meeting will be held to discuss Sarawak’s stand on the federal tourism tax as well as how to solve it, said Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth, and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

“We have to wait for the Cabinet’s decision, I cannot make any decision.

“But any action or decision that we make, we will see it holistically as to not create any trouble,” he said during a press conference.

When asked on why didn’t any Member of Parliament (MP) from Sarawak spoke up on the subject matter, Karim disclosed that when it was being debated it was already 4am.

“It was tabled at around 4am and that is the time for people to sleep.

“Who wants to debate anything at 4am?” he asked, adding that he doesn’t blame any MPs from Sarawak for not being involved due to exhaustion.

Earlier on, the ‘Larian Obor KL2017 @ Sarawak’ took place at the GoDown Amphitheatre at Waterfront here on Tuesday.
