STB focuses on local tourism

MIRI: Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) is focusing on its efforts promoting domestic tourism.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has prohibited international flights, thus severely affecting the whole world including Sarawak tourism industry, ” said Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau cum chairman of the Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) on Thursday (Oct 22).

STB has been always committed to thinking out of the box to help revitalize tourism industry in the state during this difficult time,” he asserted.

Citing on STB’s “Sia Sitok Sarawak” intra-state tourism campaign which was launched recently, Dennis said the campaign meant to boost Sarawak’s tourism industry post Covid-19.

“We want to revive domestic tourism in Sarawak; and via this campaign, tourists can enjoy discount up to 50 percent while visiting over 30 places of attraction in the State,” he explained.

Amidst the pandemic which has been affecting tourist arrivals, STB is determined to host Miri Jazz Festival in 2021.

Dennis said the event would be held at Miri City Fan.

Meanwhile, on another note, he disclosed that there was a possibility of more new voting centres to be established in his Telang Usan constituency in view of the coming 12th state election.

“There is a possibility that Telang Usan will have several new voting centres for this coming state election,” he pointed out.

On PBB’s preparedness for his constituency, Dennis said they had always been ready.
