Subis primary school gets new block under Pan Borneo CSR

KUCHING: SK Kg Bulau, a primary school in Subis District, Miri Division, will have a brand new school block soon.

The block comprises an administrative office, six classrooms and 10 washrooms.

 An earth-breaking ceremony was held yesterday, officiated by Subis MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni.

According to a statement from Lebuhraya Borneo Utara (LBU) Sdn Bhd, the new block cost RM1 mil and is part of Konsortium KPE Sdn Bhd’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) under the Usaha Murni Lebuhraya Pan Borneo Sarawak programme.

LBU is the project delivery partner of the Pan Borneo Highway for the Sarawak portion while Konsortium KPE is the main contractor for the Sg Tangap-Pujut portion of the highway.

The Usaha Murni programme is where LBU and all Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak main contractors rebuild 12 dilapidated schools in their respective portion. 

SK Kg Bulau was built on Jan 1, 1961 and currently has 31 pupils – 19 boys and 12 girls – and nine teachers.

 LBU started the ball rolling with SK Kampung Buda in Spaoh at the end of 2017 at a cost of RM2.8 mil.

 The other schools are SK Sg Buloh, under Musyati Mudajaya JV, the main contractor for the Sg Kua Bridge-Sg Arip Bridge portion; SK Paon Temaga (Lundu), under Samling Resources Sdn Bhd, the main contractor for the Telok Melano-Sematan portion, and SK Puak (Bau), also under Samling for the Sematan-Sg Moyan Bridge portion.

Meanwhile, PPES Bina Puri Sdn Bhd, the main contractor for the Sg Awik Bridge-Bintangor Junction portion, recently started work on SK Engkabang.
