KUCHING: Kuching district police chief ACP Awang Din Awang Gani said police have opened an investigation paper of a case involving a 25-year-old man who attempted suicide by drinking weedkiller yesterday.
On Wednesay night at about 8.30pm, the man had returned back home angry and grumpy. His family members were unable to stop him when he took with him a bottle of weedkiller to the back of their house and drank it.
Awang Din said the man’s mother and sister, who were at home at the time of the incident, initially did not realise that he had attempted suicide.
They rushed him to the Sarawak General Hospital when they found him unconscious at the back of the house.
The man is now in the intensive care unit, said Awang Din, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 309 of the Penal Code for attempting suicide.
