KUCHING: The Kuching Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCGCCI) and the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak (ACCCIS) recently attended a business dialogue on cross-border trade between West Kalimantan and Sarawak.

The business dialogue arranged by the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuching was held at the Marketing Point Entikong in West Kalimantan, Indonesia on March 29.

Consul General Raden Sigit Witjaksono briefed the delegation on economic diplomacy and the importance of the border post which is related to issues such as the regulation of the movement of people and goods.

He said fresh fruits, food processing, fish products, agriculture products, handicraft, furniture, office equipment, ceramic, and consumer goods were among goods exported from Entikong.

“The President of Indonesia Joko Widodo officiated at the opening ceremony of Kijing Terminal of Pontianak Port in Mempawah Regency, West Kalimantan back in August last year.

“He also recently officiated at the joint venture between Indonesia and Sarawak for the hydropower project in March this year. The construction of the hydropower project is expected to be completed in late 2029,” he said in a statement.

KCGCCI and ACCCIS secretary general Datuk Jonathan Chai Voon Tok also thanked Sigit for the invitation to the business dialogue.
