KUCHING: The School of Design and Arts at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus achieved a significant milestone with the collaborative showcase of its final-year students from Multimedia Design, Graphic Design, and Management and Digital Media.

Dubbed GradX, an abbreviation for ‘Graduate Final Year Exhibition,’ the event serves as a dynamic launchpad for graduating students, offering a platform to unveil their noteworthy accomplishments and foster professional growth.

By presenting industry-standard projects and outstanding talents, the students aim not only to attract potential employers but also to involve the broader community in the diverse and innovative realm of design.

School of Design and Arts Head Associate Professor Hugh John Leong thanked industry collaborators and clients for providing students with opportunities for capstone projects and valuable feedback.

“I would also like to commend the efforts of the Grad-X Co-Chairs, the Students of Grad-X and our dedicated Lecturers who have worked tirelessly to organise the exhibition,” he said during the event’s opening ceremony at Swinburne Sarawak here today.

The 2023 theme, Flux, symbolises the changes and challenges students have overcome during their university journey, representing the transition from studies to entering the industry.

The exhibition featured a range of projects, including interactives, animations, illustrations, and imaginative concepts meticulously created by students specialising in multimedia design, business management, and digital media.

Graphic Design students showcased compelling visual communication pieces, spanning branding concepts to impactful campaigns, transcending conventional boundaries, and leaving a lasting impression on various facets of visual communication.

Diploma of Digital Media Design students presented semester projects, including stop-motion videos and various printed items such as sleeve and postcard designs.

Meanwhile, degree students in design exhibited diligent efforts, showcasing projects like packaging designs and booklets.
