Taib, wife break fast with Eastern Field Command

KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib attended the Iftar ceremony with the Army Eastern Field Command staff on Thursday.

According to a statement today, the ceremony, which took place at Masjid Solehuddin Al-Ayubi in Penrissen Camp, aims to strengthen the bond between the army and civilian organisations, especially with the state government.

“The event is also held in accordance with the Tonggak Ketiga Perintah Ulung Panglima Tentera Darat ke-28, namely Pelestarian Kesejahteraan Warga, which also emphasises on the balance as well as strengthening the spirituality and morals of citizens,” the statement added.

Eastern Field commander Lt-Gen Datuk Mardzuki Muhammad and his wife Datin Sdafra’ Ahmad greeted Taib and his wife upon their arrival.

After breaking his fast, Taib joined the Eastern Field Command staff in performing the Maghrib, Isyak and Tarawih prayers.

A total of 300 Eastern Field Command personnel consisting of senior officers and military personnel attended the ceremony.
