Talib assures support for orphans’ welfare in future

BINTULU: About 490 orphans and 1,866 ‘asnaf’, widows and those in need received Raya aid from the Lembaga Amanah Kebajikan Islam Bintulu (LAKIB).

Jepak assemblyman and LAKIB chairman Datuk Talib Zulpilip said the amount of the aid has been increased from the previous years to ease the burden of the needy to celebrate the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

“The orphans are not forgotten and we will continue to prioritise their welfare and future.

“We have the Lembaga Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim Sarawak (PERYATIM) building where we have a system to help them for them to succeed. And now, we have seen many of them succeed and become examples to others,” he said at the handing over of Bantuan Raya for orphans, ‘asnaf’ and the needy held at Bangunan Martabat Bintulu recently.

Meanwhile Pertubuhan Anak-Anak Yatim Bintulu division chairman Datuk Haidar Khan Ashghar Khan expressed his gratitude to LAKIB for the donations and assistance extended to the orphans and the underprivileged there.

He said as much as RM100 was distributed to the orphans and RM10,000 was used for the purchase of laptops for them.

Also present at the event were Temenggong Rosli Kamarrudin, Pemancha Awang Merais Pengiran Ismail and LAKIB secretary Latip Upit.
