Tamu Krokop traders fined

MIRI: Since January 1 till February 28 (Friday) this year, Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Miri branch received 38 complaints on various trading offences from the public.

In revealing this yesterday after a routine check carried out at Tamu Krokop here, KPDNHEP Miri enforcement Chief Joe Azmi Jamil said during that same period of time, they recorded 30 cases on various trading offences within the rural and urban business premises.

“I would like to remind the traders to always abide by the rules and regulations,” he said.

Since Jan 1 until Feb 28 this year, KPDNHEP Miri conducted a check on a total of 1,812 business premises (rural and urban areas), involving seizures worth RM23,054.80.

Meanwhile, yesterday’s routine check saw four traders slapped with a fine of RM100 each, for not following rules and regulations set by the ministry.

According to Joe, three of the traders were caught using expired weighing scales while one failed to display price tags.

“They were fined RM100 each on the spot for not following the regulations set by the ministry,” he said when met by the media during the routine check yesterday.
