Tay launches GE15 manifesto for Bandar Kuching

KUCHING: The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate for Bandar Kuching Eric Tay Tze Kok has launched his manifesto for the state’s capital constituency.

He said the nine-point m manifesto his constituency for the 15th general election (GE15), focused on several major issues faced by the urban community, including to ease traffic congestion with a better city planning and road system; to overcome drainage and flood issues as well as to have more clinics with better medical facilities and more multipurpose halls.

Apart from that, he also proposed the construction of affordable nursing homes for the elderly and the sick, low-interest loans and incentives for small and medium enterprises.

“We also plan to create more opportunities for entrepreneurship, especially for women and youth; more direct flights to Kuching and to boost tourism for the domestic economy as well as more autonomy rights for Sarawak in particular in education, healthcare, and taxation,” he said.

He will also fight for more federal grants and fair distribution among the non-governmental organisations (NGOs) associations, religious, independent schools, and mission schools; and

Tay was among the new faces fielded by GPS to contest in this general election, who aimed to bring change for Bandar Kuching if he wins in the GE15.

“There are many challenges awaiting us in Bandar Kuching, not just politically but also in social, education, infrastructure development and most importantly the economy. So, it is now time for change and this is our only chance.

“The decision is yours to make and I hope people think about it rationally. Please support GPS and give us a strong mandate, give me a chance to perform for the next five years,” he said when announcing his election manifesto for Bandar Kuching at SUPP Kuching branch office here on Wednesday (Nov 9).

He also assured that he would bring the voice of Sarawak, especially Bandar Kuching to Parliament if given the opportunity to serve.

Tay, 44, is an architectural science graduate and is a businessman. He joined SUPP in 2005.

Meanwhile, SUPP president Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian who was also present to give his support to Tay.

“I’m here to support all of this. And I call upon voters to give their support to Eric,” said Dr Sim.

Also present was SUPP Kuching branch chairwoman Datuk Lily Yong.
