KUALA LUMPUR: A teacher has taken the sharing-is-caring approach and used the RM300 special appreciation assistance to help his students in their learning.

Arbaie Adnan, 27, a teacher at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tunku Kurshiah, Negeri Sembilan said he intends to use the money to prepare copies of notes and additional lessons for his students.

“I hope they won’t feel left behind in their studies,” he told Bernama yesterday after receiving the special aid announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim previously.

Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, also announced RM200 in aid for pensioners, derivative pension recipients, Employees’ Provident Fund Scheme retirees, optional retirees who have not yet received a pension, pensionable and non-pensionable veterans.

Meanwhile, Khairunnisa’ Iskandar Hayat, 25, an assistant administrator at a public university, shared that she would use the funds only when needed in the future.

“I’m saving whatever extra money I have this month to use for emergencies,” the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) postgraduate student said.

For retiree Omar Jaafar, 65, the RM200 aid would help cover the physiotherapy treatment he is receiving after suffering a stroke eight months ago while retired teacher Kelsom Ahmad, 61, said the aid would come in handy to purchase much-needed necessities. – BERNAMA
