The Wild Rift Southeast Asia (SEA) Icon Series – Summer Super Cup

KUCHING: The 2021 Wild Rift Southeast Asia (SEA) Icon Series is set to conclude with its first regional championship of the year, the Summer Super Cup.

The series, organised by Riot Games, will feature 16 teams from eight different regions, including Malaysia, competing in the League of Legends: Wild Rift, a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA).

“Following the success of our exciting preseason and regional competitions, this tournament is an important step towards establishing our players and teams’ supremacy as among the elite in the global e-sports scene.

“Together with our partners, we’re excited to showcase the very best that Southeast Asia has to offer and we encourage all Wild Rift and e-sports fans to tune in, support, and cheer for your favourites,” said  Chris Tran, head of E-sports for Riot Games Southeast Asia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau.

The Summer Super Cup is presented by the Philippine Pro Gaming League (PPGL), co-owned by Mineski Philippines and its telecommunications partner Globe Telecom, and the tournament is sponsored by international smart device Oppo, its official mobile tournament.

Teams will be eyeing to become the first Summer Super Cup champion and the prize pool of USD150,000 (RM620,850).

Teams representing Malaysia are Berjaya Dragons and Geek Fam. Berjaya Dragons won the ESL Mobile Open 2021 Summer: Malaysia.

They also won the regional championship and the USD4,845 (RM20,082) prize money after defeating Geek Fam 4-1 in final.

The Wild Rift SEA Icons Series – Summer Super Cup is divided in two stages, starting with the Group Stage from June 19 to 22.

The playoffs will start from June 25 until 27, including the final on the last day.
