Teen motorcyclist dies in crash

PADAWAN: A 17-year-old motorcyclist, who allegedly rear-ended a car on Tuesday night, succumbed to his injuries at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) yesterday (Apr 5).

Padawan OCPD Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad in a statement, said the accident occurred around 10.30pm along Jalan FAC Matang.

“The victim identified as Muhammad Alif Ajaman, was riding his motorcycle towards Kampung Selang Ulu when he rear-ended a car driven by a 20-year-old man.

“Due to the impact, the victim sustained severe head injuries and he was rushed to SGH for immediate treatment,” Abang Zainal said, adding that the driver was unharmed in the accident.

However, the hospital confirmed that the teenager succumbed to his injuries around 12.15pm yesterday.

Abang Zainal said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
