KUCHING: A teenage boy has been sentenced to three years at Henry Gurney School by the Magistrates’ Court for damaging the glass of a door and the rear windscreen of his father’s car after not receiving the money he requested.

Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan imposed the sentence on the 15-year-old after considering a moral report from the Social Welfare Department today (Nov 30).

The teenager was charged under Section 426 of the Penal Code for committing mischief on his 52-year-old father’s property at their residence in Green Road here around 10.30pm on Oct 25.

If convicted, the teenager could face a prison term of up to five years, a fine, or both.

The boy’s actions involved damaging the main glass door of the house using an iron rod and breaking the car’s windscreen with a meat cleaver. The father, unable to control his son’s behaviour, filed a police report, leading to the teenager’s arrest on Oct 27.
