Teenage boy pleads guilty to injuring neighbour

KUCHING: An 18-year-old teenage boy pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court here today to injuring his neighbour using an iron rod after being scolded as the exhaust of his motorcycle was too noisy.

The young offender, made the confession after the charge was read by an interpreter before Magistrate Nursyaheeqa Nazwa Radzali.

However, the court set January 19, 2023 for the hearing of the social report of the accused before being sentenced.

In addition, the court released the accused with a cash bail of RM800 along with a local surety.

He was charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code for intentionally causing injury to a 25-year-old woman using an iron rod.

He committed the act in a flat building in Taman Sepakat Jaya, Demak Laut, at about 5.30 pm, on April 25.

According to the case’s facts, the victim’s younger brother and the accused got into an argument during the incident because the former complained that the accused’s motorcycle’s exhaust was too loud.

Angry at being reprimanded, the accused hit the victim’s younger brother’s head with a helmet but was able to avoid it.

The victim tried to break up the fight, but the accused then took an iron rod and swung it at the victim causing a slight injury to the left hand.

The accused also damaged the SYM Sport motorcycle belonging to the victim’s father by breaking the cover of the motorcycle involved causing a loss of RM280.

After committing the act, the accused ran away.

The victim then made a police report for further action and investigation leading to the arrest of the accused at his residence on December 21.

The prosecution of the case was handled by prosecuting officer Nur Syafiqa Nyaie Ilin while the accused was not represented by a counsel.
