KUCHING: A telecommunications tower along Jalan Stephen Yong here caught fire last night (Mar 12).
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from the Batu Lintang station were despatched to the scene after they received a distress call around 9.40 pm.
The fire occurred at the top of the tower and the firefighters started to put out the flames after Sarawak Energy Berhad (Sesco) cut off power to the tower.
The firefighters completed their task around 10.30pm. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
