KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has nine pillars to uphold as announced by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg last night.
The pillars are:
• Upholding the Constitution
• Respecting the Rule of Law
• Safeguarding Sarawak’s rights and interest
• Building prosperity and a greater Sarawak
• Political integrity and patriotism
• Strengthening Sarawak’s economy
• Fostering unity and peace
• Building future generations
• Preserving heritage and sustainable resources.
“These are the pillars that we must preserve, safeguard and develop to turn the state into a high-income nation by 2030,” he said during the grand launch of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) at Stadium Perpaduan here last night.
He said that one very important element for GPS to maintain in this struggle is unity. The people must remain united as one regardless of race and/or religion.
“We have to maintain peace and harmony because they are our strengths,” he said, adding that people from
Silicon Valley in the USA had decided to invest in Sarawak because of the people’s strong unity.
“Tonight is a historical night in the politics of Sarawak,” he said.
“We have walked together with Malaya for 55 years. Today we are going to determine a better future for Sarawak.”
After the launch, GPS members also read their pledge.
