MIRI: Thieves are taking to roller shutters, at least to some uncompleted business premises in the Eastwood Valley Industrial here. The shop owners in the area had complained that their roller shutters were dismantled by thieves, causing them to suffer huge losses as a result.
A complainant, who only wants to be known as Wong, said that they had lodged reports to the police but until now no action was taken. According to him, most of the premises targeted by criminals were located at the end of the building which was dark. “The area does not have lights so it is prone to crime. The lamps are there but they are not working.
Hence, we hope the authorities will repair the damaged lights as soon as possible,” he said. Wong also called on the police to patrol more frequently in the area to prevent more criminal cases.
