JEMPOL: An elderly married couple and another man were killed in a crash involving two Lorries along Jalan Bahau-Rompin nearhere today, police said.

The dead couple is Md Jantan Samsuddin, 65, and Hasemah Hashim, 60, who were in a 10-tonne lorry laden with rubberwood that crashed into an empty trailer lorry at 11.25am, said Jempol District Police chief Supt Mohd Khairiel Mohd Arif.

He said the driver of the trailer lorry, Mohd Hafizie Mohd Sabri, 32, also died in the crash.

Mohd Khairiel said the couple was from Felda Gugusan Raja Alias 2, Bandar Seri Jempol, while Mohd Hafizie was from Taman Kerayong Makmur, Bandar Bera, Pahang.

He said a preliminary investigation showed that Mohd Hafizie had been driving the trailer lorry from Rompin to Bahau and the lorry carrying the couple had been going in the opposite direction.

“All three of them died on the spot,” he told Bernama.

Their bodies were sent to the Jempol Hospital.

Bahau Fire & Rescue Station chief Muhamad Rasul Hashim said 15 firefighters took about 30 minutes to remove the bodies trapped in the vehicles. – Bernama
