SIBU: Three women here were fined RM1,000 each for violating the movement control order (MCO) early this morning (Jan 30).

Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit in a statement said, the three women, aged between 26 and 34, were arrested by a mobile patrol vehicle (MPV) unit at Jalan Market at 3.20am.

“The three subjects were found wandering around town and could not give a reasonable reason when being found still outside in the open within the enforcement hours of the MCO at that time,” he said.

Stanley added that the three subjects were then taken to the police station for the issuance of a compound under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (No.3) Regulations 2021 (Act 342) 1988.

“The three subjects involved have been given a compound notice each worth RM1,000. They are required to settle the payment within 14 days from the date the compound is issued at the Sibu Health Office,” he said.
