KUCHING: The Sarawak government plans to make Siburan a full district pending a study on the proposal by the State Secretary’s office.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg revealed this during a press conference in Serian last Wednesday.

Siburan is a small town in Serian Division. It is located along the Kuching-Serian Highway.

Naturally, the people of Siburan are happy with the state government’s plan.

They look forward to improved facilities, better economic status and higher standard of living.

“The elevation of Siburan into a district will create many job opportunities for the residents, especially in the small and medium Industry. The initiative will also stop the migration of youth in this area to other towns and cities.”
