MIRI: Outdoor activities have resumed in Miri.

Yesterday, 11 participants (five from Miri Fire and Rescue Department or Bomba and six from the Miri Divers group) participated in a one-day diving programme.

Assistant Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew graced the simple flagging off ceremony at Marina Jetty before the participants left for a diving site located about half an hour away.

“Today’s event showed that it is alright to start tourism in Miri and we are looking forward to welcoming more people here for diving activities as long as they comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs),” said Ting.

Also present was Miri Fire and Rescue Department Zone 6 chief Supt Law Poh Kiong.

The programme was a collaboration between Miri Bomba and Miri Divers group. The activity was supposed to be held last year but postponed due to the Covid-19 restrictions.

Ting applauded both the Miri Bomba and Miri Divers group for jointly organising the event.
