KUCHING: The 996.84 acres of land surveyed, gazetted and the titles given to 636 owners in Pimu’ung Singai, Bau yesterday have been estimated to have a total market value of RM99.7 million.

“If one acre is valued at RM1,000, the total value of the land for which we are receiving the titles from the government today is almost RM100 million,” said Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep in his speech at the launch of the Singai Carnival 2019 and the presentation of the Pimu’ung Bisingai land titles, Gunung Singai Gazette, Catholic Memorial Pilgrimage Centre (CMPC) Gazette and Individual land titles by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg at Singai Sports and Recreational Club in Kampung Sudoh here yesterday.

“Thanks to the Chief Minister; this is out of his love for BiSingai people, especially in realising the recognition of the NCR land of the Bidayuh in Singai,” he said.

Henry said the claims on Pimu’ung Singai NCR land started in 2016 with many series of discussions and dialogues held between the community leaders and Kuching Division Land and Surveys Office as well as the State Land and Surveys Headquarters during the investigation process until it was approved by the Chief Minister on September 23, 2017.

“The active involvement of all Singai community leaders in facing the obstacles and hindrances to ensure the success of gazetting the Pimu’ung land was remarkable. And don’t forget the role of the Land and Surveys Department,” he said.

Kuching Division Land and Surveys Superintendent, Hardi Fadillah Hamzah attended a dialogue with the villagers on April 11, 2018 and he even went to the old cemetery in Pimu’ung on April 19, 2018, Henry recalled.

He added that the perimeter survey that started on March 1, 2018 was completed on July 10 last year, seven months earlier than expected. A total 1,395 hectares were surveyed and gazetted.

Henry said in Tasik Biru, the perimeters of a total of 26,589 hectares of NCR land had been surveyed, of which 22,280 had been gazetted.

He said land gazetted under Section 6 of the State Land Code after being surveyed under Section 18 had perpetual titles.
