MIRI: The Sarawak Ministry of Transport is planning to upgrade several traffic gardens located statewide this year.

According to minister Datuk Sri Lee Kim Shin, this was part of the ministry’s plan to revive traffic games and promote road safety among schoolchildren.

Lee disclosed this on Monday (April 10) after inspecting the Miri Traffic Garden at Bulatan Park.

“These traffic gardens are Kuching, Miri, Bintulu, Sibu, Sarikei and Sri Aman…and I would be visiting Bintulu tomorrow (Tuesday) to inspect its condition,” he told the media.

The upgrading work would involve local authorities from these divisions. The last Traffic Games hosted at Miri Traffic Garden by Shell Malaysia was in 2014.

“This time around, we would approach oil and gas companies such as Petros, Petronas or (utility company) Sarawak Energy Berhad to collaborate with us to organise the games.”
