KUCHING: Residents participated in a recycling initiative for electrical/electronic devices, used cooking oil, and old clothing at the Batu Kawa Recreation Park today (Feb 4).

The event, held from 8 am to noon, was part of a buy-back campaign organised by the Padawan Municipal Council (PMC).

According to PMC, this initiative, which started last year, has been expanded to include used cooking oil in its collection roster. With plans to conduct the campaign ten times this year across different locations within its jurisdiction, a special emphasis is being placed on the collection of e-waste.

Scheduled dates for future collections are March 9, April 13, May 11, June 15, July 13, August 10, September 14, October 12, and November 9, all falling on Saturdays.

Eligible items for the campaign include a wide range of electronic waste, such as laptops, desktop monitors, CPUs, mobile phones, tablets, cameras, keyboards, projectors, televisions, printers, scanners, washing machines, and air conditioners.
