NEW APPOINTMENT… Deddy in a discussion with Abdul Taib on his new duty in Islamabab, Pakistan.

KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud received two courtesy calls at his residence in Demak Jaya yesterday.

The courtesy visits were by Head of Consular Office of Japan for Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan Shiso Kako and Foreign Affairs Ministry Sarawak region director Deddy Faisal Ahmad Salleh.

Shiko’s visit was her first since being appointed to head the consular office in January this year.

She expressed Japan’s keen interest to collaborate with Sarawak in various fields related to economics, social affairs and culture in efforts to enhance the existing good rapport between both parties and also in organising joint activities in Sarawak.

Deddy, on the other hand, came to inform Abdul Taib of his appointment as Minister Counsellor to the Malaysia High Commission in Islamabab, Pakistan.
