Two nabbed for online gambling

The arrest of two Indonesians at Kampung Punau with the seizures on Sunday (July 12).

SIBURAN: Two Indonesians were nabbed by police on suspicion of illegal online gambling activity in an unnumbered premises at Kampung Punau, Jalan Puncak Borneo on Sunday (July 12).

Padawan district deputy police chief DSP Lim Jaw Shyong said that the duo was arrested in an operation dubbed Ops Dadu at around 6.50pm.

“A team from Padawan Police Crime Investigation Division (CID) raided the premises and arrested both men, aged 20 and 21, on suspicion of conducting illegal online gambling activities,” he said in a statement.

During the raid, police also seized three smartphones and cash worth RM146 from the individuals.

Lim added that both men were working as online gambling sellers at said premises.

Both are currently remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 4 (1)(c) Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
