KUCHING: Twelve-year-old Sarawak prodigy Jayda Chang of Tyng Dance Academy (TDA) secured double champion titles in the MYDF Closed Solo Latin Female categories, triumphing in both Junior I and II divisions held in Johor from April 6 to 7.

According to a statement on Tuesday (April 9), her exceptional performance has also earned her a prestigious Top Three finish in the (World DanceSport Federation) WDSF Open Solo Latin Female Junior I category, representing Malaysia with distinction on both national and global dancesport platforms.

Besides that, other TDA athletes shone at the Bailando Open Championship (BOC) 2024.

“Trisha Yap, 14, achieved a top three position in the National Ranking for Junior II and claimed fourth place in the WDSF Open Lady Solo Junior II category, emerging as the highest-ranking Malaysian in her category.

“Claudin Tay demonstrated her skill by reaching the finals in the MYDF closed lady solo Youth and Adult categories and securing a gold medal in the Paso Doble, showcasing TDA’s competitive edge.

“Janice Liaw, Amanda Goh and Jocelyn Yap also contributed significantly to TDA’s success, resulting in a total of 29 awards, including four gold, two silver and nine bronze medals.”

The academy’s achievements at BOC 2024 , it added, underscored Sarawak’s cultural richness and potential in the realm of dance sport.

“These accomplishments highlight not only the athletes’ talent and hard work but also the support of the Sarawakian community.”
