Unemployed faces five years

KUCHING: An unemployed from Matang is facing a maximum prison term of five years for peddling drugs. Padawan police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said the suspect will face another charge for drug consumption.

He said on Wednesday at 4.30pm, a police team led by Detective Sergeant Abang Johani went to a house in Kampung Selang Laut, Jalan Matang here.

They found the suspect with syabu weighing 15.03 grams valued at RM 2,254. The case is being investigated under Section 39A (1) of ADB 1952 which carries a prison term not less than two years but not more than five and will also be punishable by whipping, no less than three if convicted.

The suspect was detained for two days pending investigation. At the same time, Aidil called upon members of the public to give more information on drug
peddlers.
