KOTA SAMARAHAN: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) recently held a hybrid Yayasan Sarawak Best Graduate 2020 Award Ceremony on Tuesday (Sept 7).

Unimas stated that the award ceremony was attended by Yayasan Sarawak director Mersal Abang Rosli virtually while the closing ceremony was held at Galeri Koompassia Excelsa, Bangunan Canselori with Vice-Chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Saudi, Deputy Vice-Chancellors and Assistant Vice-Chancellors present.

“In his speech, the Vice-Chancellor congratulated the two Unimas graduates who were selected to win the award namely Yvanessa Henry Lemat from Human Development programme, Faculty of Cognitive Science and Human Development (FSKPM) and Jee Jing from Plant Resource Science and Management programme, Faculty of Resources Science and Technology (FSTS).

“Most certainly this achievement is the fruit of their efforts and determination not only in the academic aspects but also curriculum aspects throughout their studies in Unimas,” it said in a statement.

During the ceremony, the two graduates received a cheque worth RM2,000 each as well as a certificate of appreciation and plaque from Yayasan Sarawak.

It noted that the Vice-Chancellor also expressed appreciation and gratitude to Yayasan Sarawak for the full sponsorship of the award given to the Unimas graduates.

“This is the second time this award has been given by Yayasan Sarawak since it was introduced in 2019 to celebrate excellent graduates from academic and curriculum aspects. I hope that Yayasan Sarawak will continue with this award for many years to come.

“This is because it will provide motivation and aspiration for future graduates to work hard, be competitive and excel in all aspects be it academic or curriculum throughout their studies duration in Unimas,” Kadim said.

The ceremony was held in moderation and prompt whilst in compliance with the standard operating procedure (SOP) to celebrate the graduates and as a symbolic appreciation to Yayasan Sarawak on the award.

It added that Unimas hopes to continue having a close strategic relationship with Yayasan Sarawak.
