KUCHING: Aiming to showcase authentic products from Sarawak, a businesswoman has come up with a new product, Pes Ayam Kuzy Gula Apong.
According to Hamisah Dollah, the paste is not only for cooking Ayam Gula Apong but can also be used as a marinade for various dishes.
Hamisah, who is also a kek lapis entrepreneur, said the Pes Ayam Kuzy Gula Apong once won a cooking competition at the 2018 Agro Festival.
“From there, the idea was to make this paste as a new product of my company, using gula apong (nipah palm sugar) as the main ingredient.
“This paste is very suitable for customers who want to try something different in their cooking as it has a unique aroma (of the gula apong).”
Elaborating further, Hamisah said the paste is different from any other cooking pastes because it is made from pure gula apong obtained from a supplier in Kampung Tembirat, Samarahan.
However, she said the supply of pure gula apong is sometimes difficult to obtain immediately, especially during the Covid-19 movement control order.
“Pes Ayam Kuzy Gula Apong can be obtained in two forms of packaging – bottles and plastic bags.
“Customers are free to choose the packaging, and the paste is priced as low as RM10 for 300g,” she said, adding that the paste can last for eight months after being opened.
