MARUDI: Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak (YPS) is bringing a new race category to Baram Regatta this year called Unity Trophy to be held here this October 1.

The Unity Cup will offer a cash prize of RM10,000 and a trophy, while second place will receive a cash of RM8,000 along with a trophy, and third place will receive a cash of RM6,000 and a trophy.

In addition, YPS will also give consolation prizes in the form of cash to the fourth to sixth place finishers.

For YPS, the Unity Trophy will be very unique and special to compete at the inaugural race of unity at the Baram regatta this year.

Baram Regatta is not just an ordinary regatta but is the mother of all regattas in Sarawak and has been known as a symbol of peace-making in the past.

This Unity Cup is also very much in line with the vision and mission of YPS in promoting and fostering unity and harmony, as well as preserving the culture and traditions in Sarawak.
