DALAT: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan commended Dalat and Mukah as being an example of perpaduan sejati in Sarawak.
He said unity has become the norm of life for the people here and in Mukah and is Sarawak’s strength.
“Unity comes from our hearts, not just ‘mere action’, and this has helped enhance our harmony and instil a sense of respect towards each other,” he said at Taman Solidariti Dalat here on Saturday (Dec 12).
He added unity also helped in strengthening and safeguarding political stability in Sarawak, thus enabling the state to develop further.
Awang Tengah, who once served in government sector here, also hoped that future generations would understand how important it is to preserve and safeguard unity, harmony and political stability amid current challenges.
He also recalled some fond moments like visiting open houses during Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Christmas in nearby villages during his time here.
According to him, Dalat is now more developed as compared to during his time here.
Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah also attended the event.
