SPAOH: Community leaders are once again reminded to report to their elected representatives of any delay in the implementation of rural transformation projects (RTP) and minor rural projects (MRP) at their areas.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah said as Wakil Rakyat, they are providing the grants for such projects and expected the projects to be completed properly and on schedule.

“When there are the delays, this will defeat the objective of the government in providing the infrastructure to benefit the people,” Uggah pointed out.

He said this before presenting grants totalling RM300,000 to the village security and development committees (JKKK) and Women Bureaus from 94 longhouses in his Bukit Saban constituency held at a longhouse Rumah Mendit Unsu in Penom, recently.
Uggah also urged community leaders in view of the coming northeast monsoon, to report to their elected representatives on any damage to their roads or bridges or occurrence of soil erosion.

“We expect heavy rain and flood to occur within the period from this December to January next year. You can easily do this through your WhatsApp group where your Wakil Rakyat are also members.
“Please send us the pictures as well. We can then contact the relevant department(s) to do the repairs or take up the necessary action,” he pointed out.

Meanwhile, Uggah said works to repair a part of the Ulu Luban Road affected by a sinkhole are now being repaired.
He has visited the area to see for himself the damage caused on Saturday night.

Also present during the event were political secretary to Sarawak Premier Dr Richard Rapu, Betong District Officer Alfred Geling and Temenggong Richard Mulok.
