KUCHING: The Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex at Tebedu and Serikin will be upgraded for safety assurance and to uplift economic relations with Kalimantan, Indonesia.

“The road project from Ba Kelalan border as well as the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex towards Lawas will begin construction in 2022.

“Besides that, a new border control post will be constructed at Manalunan, Simanggaris and Kelabakan in Sabah,” said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri when tabling the motion on the 12th Malaysia Plan (2021-2025) at the Dewan Rakyat in Putrajaya on Monday (Sept 27).

At same time, he said high value-added economic activities will be intensified through e-commerce platform, smart agriculture and rural industries in the efforts to transform the rural areas.

In saying this, he pointed out that the rural infrastructure will be enhanced with the construction and upgrading of 2,800-kilometre paved roads.

“This includes Jalan Nanga Tulie to Rumah Bujah, Nanga Pelagus in Kapit, Sarawak at the cost of RM280 million as well as Jalan Dudar to Taburan to Mendawang in Kota Belud in Sabah at the cost of RM101 million.
