SARIKEI: Urban Development and Resources Assistant Minister Datuk Len Talif Salleh has urged youths to use social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter and Facebook in a more constructive and beneficial way.

“As digital communication becomes increasingly important, the medium offered by social media can serve as a platform for spreading immoral acts, promoting propaganda, hatred and even spreading lies.

“Of course, we cannot deny that social media is good and bad but it depends on how we use it.

“In this regard, I would like to remind you not to use social media to spread or disseminate fake information,” he said.

“It will be better if social media is used to boost the socio-economic status and well-being of the community,” he continued.

Len, who is also Kuala Rajang assemblyman gave the advice during a breakfast with youths at Taman Selera Kampung Seberang Sarikei, yesterday.

He added the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government would continue to implement various programmes to strengthen the roles of youths as well as ensure that they were capable of contributing to the development of the state.
