KUCHING: The ‘Segulai Sejalai’ slogan complements the current Unity Government and the unity that the nation is going for.

Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri stated that the usage of the said phrase nationwide brings pride to the people in Sarawak.

“For me, using the slogan as the national unity slogan is one of the very good initiatives by our Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim). ‘Segulai Sejalai’ symbolises unity within the community.

“Therefore, the usage of this slogan does not only reflect the unity that we have here in Sarawak but also throughout the country.

“With the unity portrayed, this slogan may also be used as an example for other countries as well,” she said.

She said this when met by the media after officiating a district-level Al-Quran recitation at Nurir Rahmani Mosque, Kampung Santubong, here last night (June 9).

In light of this, she pointed out that unity has indeed been one of her ministry’s practises, regardless of one’s race, religion, or age.

“This is because our ministry has people of different backgrounds who are under our care; hence, unity has become a principle that we always hold.

“We use unity as our guide to carry out our duties in the ministry,” she added.

During the national Gawai Dayak 2023 celebration at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching on June 7, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he was attracted to the Iban phrase and announced that he would make it the national unity slogan.
