KUCHING: A mother and her daughter managed to run to safety after the former realised that her car engine fire was spreading to her house.
The 30-year-old mother had parked her car outside when she returned home.
She and her six-year-old daughter were in the house when she realised her car engine was on fire and that the vehicle fire was fast spreading to the house.
She called her daughter and both of them raced out of the house.
The woman then called the Fire and Rescue Department for help.
Firemen who rushed to the scene put out the fire to prevent it from spreading to neighbouring houses.
The car was totally burnt out while 10 per cent of the house was damaged.
The case is still being investigated.
