Village chiefs get appointment letters

The community leaders and village heads in Telang Usan receive their reappointment and appointment certificates.

MIRI: Twenty-nine community leaders and village heads in Telang Usan received their reappointment and appointment certificates.

Five of them received received their re-appointment certificates while the rest, who are new appointees, received their appointment letters.

According to a news report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), those reappointed were Temenggong Elizabeth Deng from Kampung Long Laput, Pemanca Gilbert Ding (Kampung Long Panai), Penghulu Ajang Wan (Long Liam Keliman), Penghulu Desmond Yap Cheng Siang (Pekan Long Lama) and Penghulu Jewen Lihan (Kampung Long Win).

Retired teacher Wan Ngau Lah from Kampung Long was appointed as Penghulu. He replaces Penghulu Mering Ibau who has completed his service.

Newly appointed Penghulu Dennis Madang will represent the Kenyah community in Tinjar area.

Meanwhile, seven other new appointees received their appointment certificates and 12 received their service extension certificates.

There were three new village heads from Tinjar area who received their appointment certificates, namely Lungan Jevun from Kampung Long Puah, Bap Pating (Kampung Long Lobang) and Jayak Lawa (Kampung Long Kerong).

During the ceremony which took place at Kompleks Islam Miri on Monday (April 18), appreciation certificates were handed out to community leaders and village heads who completed their service.

The ceremony, officiated by Miri Division Resident Abdul Aziz Mohamad Yusof, was witnessed by Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau and District Officer Baru Tai.
