TEBEDU: The Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) are playing a crucial role in safeguarding the customs and culture of local communities.

Tebedu assemblyman, Dr Simon Sinang Bada, praised the JKKK of Kampung Krusen Kranji for their dedicated efforts in preserving the traditions of the Bidayuh community, despite facing challenges.

“The Gawai Dayak celebration has been observed since ancient times, although the dates may vary among villages. Recognising its importance, the Sarawak government has declared June 1 as a public holiday for the Dayak community to celebrate Gawai,” said Dr Sinang at the ‘Rami Nyisan Bunos’ Gawai 2023 at the village here recently.

Additionally, at the same event, Dr Sinang approved an allocation of RM20,000 for the Land Documentation Project (LDP) committee under the Minor Rural Project (MRP). The JKKK of Kampung Krusen Kranji also received RM10,000, while the Women’s Bureau of the village was allocated RM5,000.
