KUCHING: “My brother brings joy to the family whenever he’s around,” said Awang Ali Awang Hamsawi, elder brother of Awang Omar Awang Hamsawi who has been missing since Saturday (Oct 2).

Awang Omar is the only person still not found after a fishing boat carrying 10 persons, capsized about two nautical miles off Pulau Satang Besar on Saturday.

Awang Ali, 61, when met by the media at Telaga Air public jetty, said his brother would always go out (to the sea) almost every weekend.

“Whenever he goes fishing, he will always contact his family and inform us about his activity.

“In our family, he is always the comedian. He brings joy to us.

“When he’s not around, it will be quiet like now,” he said in a choked tone.

“I pray and hope that my brother will swim to a safe place and seek shelter there while waiting for help to arrive,” he said.
