Viral video suspects held; RM13,000 drugs seized

KUCHING: Four men who tried to escape from the police near Satok were nabbed with over RM13,000 worth of drugs.

The four suspects, aged 20, 30, 31 and 34, were also found positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.

Kuching OCPD ACP Ahsmon Bajah in a statement today said the suspects were arrested by a team from the Padawan District Police Headquarters and the Sarawak Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK).

“Acting on information gathered by our team, they were arrested at around 2.30pm on Tuesday (Apr 19).

“During the operation, police inspected a Proton Wira in Satok. The result of the inspection found drugs suspected to be syabu estimated to weigh 103 grams worth RM10,000 and 64 Erimin 5 pills estimated to be worth RM3,200.”

Ahsmon said all the suspects were detained under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act.

“Three of the suspects also have previous drug and criminal records,” he added.

Last Tuesday, a 2 minute 50 second video that went viral on social media showed a group of police trying to arrest the four suspects who instead tried to flee the scene.

Adamant in their attempt, their car ended up trapped in the middle of the road between two cars.

They were then seen arrested by police after having failed to drive away in the wrecked Proton Wira.
